This week Tyler got to play offense and was sooooo proud to actually carry the ball and try not to get his flag pulled! Steven took some great pictures of Tyler running with the ball! Of course Megan loves being their cheerleader!
Tyler is playing NFL Flag Football this fall. It's a great program sponsored by a local church that is very kid and family oriented. It's competitive but not cut throat. He kept talking about wanting to play but I wasn't sure if he would like it or not. He seems to really be enjoying himself and we have a great group of coaches and were lucky enough to be on the Texans team! At the first game Tyler got to be one of the team captains and played defense. He did a great job but they are all still trying to figure out what to do with their mouth pieces and which direction to face!
We were invited to a friend's birthday at the Downtown Aquarium. The kids had so much fun that we are going to go back for Mamma Debbie Redditt's birthday in a few weeks!
On September 5th we went to a Mexican restaurant after Megan's dance class that has a play toy outside. Megan was just starting up the ladder when she fell - I couldn't see how she landed but she was crying and covered in mulch and complaining that her elbow hurt. Later that evening my Mom and I took her to the ER. It was about 9:30 and we didn't get home till about 12:30. She was such a trooper, happy to get a dollar from Mamma and a chatty cathy the entire time. The ER told us it was sprained and sent us home. The next morning a different Dr from the hospital called and said it might be a hairline fracture and to take her to an orthopedic Dr in 8-10 days. The hurricane was coming the next week so I wanted to get her in sooner than later so I made an appt for Wed. The Dr said her arm was broke - a radial head fracture and that she would need to wear a cast for 3 weeks. Megan was doing good till the nurse started putting the bandage all down her arm and that is when she decided she'd had enough. It was a very unpleasant experience. The Dr and nurses were extremely rude and Megan was very scared. Thankfully my Dad was able to come up and calm us all done and Megan sat in his lap while they put the very hot pink cast on! Good news is that she's been great with it on - except for the 20 hrs we had without power where she was starting to get too hot and itchy! The most important thing we learned during this time is that you can't eat corn on the cob with a cast on!
Tyler & Megan both had great first days of school! Tyler is in first grade and his teacher's name is Ms. Hamilton - she is a perfect fit for him - very sweet and nurturing! Megan is in the Tumbling Turtle class at her preschool and goes 3 days a week. She was very excited to wear her turtle dress because her dolly has a matching one!
Here are my Playgroup Moms (minus one - Carrie!) One of our families is moving to Singapore so we were having a Baby Shower/Goodbye Party. These girls are the best friends and supporters and its been so much fun watching our little ones grow up together!
We took the kiddos to see Backyardigans Live - Megan is still in love with the Backyardigans. She did great till the end when she said, When is it my turn to go on stage with them? So heartbreaking to tell her she can't!
